As part of its capital improvement project, WestWorld is going to receive a new stainless steel horse sculpture from local artist Jeff Zischke. The piece, once completed, will measure 23 feet tall, 11 feet wide and 38 feet long and will weigh 10,000 pounds. It will be large enough to be seen from the Scottsdale 101 Freeway and tall enough to walk underneath.

The piece will be called “Impulsion”, a term which refers to a release of motion.
So far, the sculpture’s model, or maquette, has been constructed – it is made up of 790 individual pieces of stainless steel that have been arranged in such a way that they give off the illusion of curves.
Jeff Zischke and the model of this sculpture were recently featured in the July/August issue of Modern Luxury’s Scottsdale magazine. In an interview with the magazine, Zischke said he chose stainless steel for the sculpture because of WestWorld’s link to the Barrett Jackson collector car auction.
“Stainless steel is an integral part of cars,” said Zischke. “It’s very modern, contemporary, durable. And, of course, there’s ‘horse’ power in cars—the forward drive—it works together.”
When the piece is finished by Magnum Companies in Phoenix (the welding company will hopefully finish sometime in November), Zischke’s horse will become a permanent fixture of the new and improved WestWorld.
WestWorld is located just 5 minutes from the DC Ranch.
