Three programmable electronic speed signs have been recently installed within DC Ranch by the Homeowners’ Association. Speeding on neighborhood streets was one of the main concerns that DC Ranch residents expressed in a recent survey.
The electronic signs are moveable and sit above community speed signs for driver visibility. They are programmed to show the speed limit you are driving. They flash when drivers exceed the speed limit, and they “strobe-light-flash” when drivers exceed 45 mph.
As a reminder, the speed limit on main roads in DC Ranch (such as Desert Camp) is 25 miles per hour, and on connecting neighborhood streets it’s 15 miles per hour.
One of the 3 signs have been placed inside the Country Club (near the east gate), and two of the signs have been placed in Silverleaf (one on Windgate Pass and one on Horseshoe Canyon.) They will be moved around on a regular basis.
The system purchased allows traffic information to be downloaded (traffic volume, time and actual speed). The community association is collecting and analyzing the information.
The first reports will be reviewed at the next Security Subcommittee meeting on September 30th at 5:00 pm at the Ranch Offices on Market Street. Residents are encouraged to attend.
Andy Andrews, Executive Director of DC Ranch Association told us yesterday, “We’re already seeing more than 60% of the traffic exceeding the 25 mile per hour speed limit.”
DC Ranch is a special place to live. The goal of our community management groups is to keep it that way for the long term.
