For those of you who missed the Tour de France this year, don’t despair. The Tour de Scottsdale is right around the corner — literally. Market Street at DC Ranch is the starting line and finish line for the 10th annual ride that is taking place on Sunday, October 13, 2013.
The Tour de Scottsdale
Pick either the 30 mile or 70 mile ride. Mountain bikes, recumbents and handbikes are all acceptable – really, any type of bike is allowed as long as it can be driven safely in a big group. However, the Tour de Scottsdale website does ask that riders not use aero-type and other similar auxiliary handlebars. Only bikes equipped with drop bars or flat bars will be allowed to ride in the event.
There’s space for 2,000 cyclists, so register as soon as possible to guarantee your spot. Sign up before Friday October 11 at midnight. Pick up your sign-up packet from the DC Ranch Homestead Community Center Friday before 5:00 pm or at the race on Sunday at the start/finish line starting at 5 am. You will also receive a “goody bag” (sent to your email) from Virtual Race Bags for participating.
You don’t have to ride to be involved – track your favorite athletes as they ride past. Market Street Kitchen in DC Ranch is also hosting a pre-tour dinner on Saturday October 12 just before the big race kicks off. It’s a special three course meal available for participants, family and friends.
