Market Street at DC Ranch is once again the starting and ending point for the Tour de Scottsdale, scheduled for Sunday, October 12, 2014. This will be the eleventh annual race.
The Tour de Scottsdale has become a local favorite for cyclists and cycling fans, as well as advocates of the organizations that benefit from the event, the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy and McDowell Sonoran Preserve.
The Tour de Scottsdale race has both a 30 mile and 70 mile route that can be done by individual cyclists or tandem cyclists.
The 30 mile ride starts at Market Street, goes west on Thompson Peak, north on Scottsdale Road, east on Cave Creek Road and then south on Pima (it’s almost all downhill once you turn onto Pima Road).
The 70 mile trek also kicks-off at Market Street and circles the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.
Registration is open and limited to the first 2,000 riders. Entry fees are:
- 30 mile ride – individual $55
- 30 mile ride – tandem $110
- 70 mile ride – individual $70
- 70 mile ride – tandem $135
All proceeds go to the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy for upkeep and completion of the Preserve.
A Kick-off Party is scheduled for Thursday, July 31 at FASTER Cycling to help participants and volunteers get ready for the race.
Market Street is located the southeast corner of Thompson Peak Parkway and Pima Road.
