DC Ranch Village Health Club & Spa members recently participated in the “Cycle for the Cure” event, helping to raise more than $152,500 for the TGen Institute in Phoenix.

The 2 other Village Health Clubs in the Valley and Studio 360 also participated in the event. The event was expected to raise around $125,000 for TGen, but because of a spike in donations this year, the fundraiser exceeded expectations by over 20 percent.
TGen, or the Translational Genomics Research Institute, is an Arizona-based non-profit 501(c)(3) organization which focuses its research on developing diagnostics, treatments and therapies for cancer, diabetes, and other diseases using the innovative advancements of the Human Genome Project.

According to the Village Health Club & Spa’s summer 2014 Better Life magazine, the event was broken down into team riding and virtual riding. Bikes were reserved for $200 a piece. Over the course of 2 hours, participants cycled their hearts out to the sound of loud music and motivational instructors. The post-ride party followed the event with food, drinks and dancing.
The next annual Cycle for the Cure is Sunday, May 3, 2015.
