DC Ranch residents have decided to plant a public garden to create a long-lasting resource for the community. The new Community Garden is located at Copper Ridge School in the DC Ranch neighborhood.
The garden is a joint project created by both residents and students who hope the garden will provide nutritious food and encourage self-reliance as well as be a long-lasting resource for the community. You can lease your own garden plot and plant your own organic crops by filling out a form and dropping it off at the Desert Camp Community Center. Once you pay, you will receive the gate code and a badge to access the garden. There are 44 total plots available for avid gardeners.
If you’re looking for a community that values the environment, contact The Matheson Team, your DC Ranch real estate experts, by filling out our contact form below.
Residents can easily make a trip to the garden, but it is also completely open to the public. Celebrate its grand opening this weekend, Sunday March 30. Bring your family and friends and head to the big celebration from 3:30 to 5:00 pm with the official dedication at 4:00 pm. There will be light refreshments, a craft for the kids, question and answer time with a master gardener and garden displays with live music.
It’s a chance to meet the neighbors while getting involved in an ecofriendly lifestyle. You can also join one of the four garden committees, which include volunteer, events and workshops, resources and operations. For more information, contact Community Engagement Director Jona Davis at 480.538.3582 or Jona.davis@dcranchinc.com.
Don’t feel like getting your hands dirty and just want to smell the roses? Take advantage of this beautiful spring weather and go on a walk. A wildflower walk that is. On Saturday April 5, join your neighbors for a guided tour with resident Landscape Manager Gary Whitener II. There will be two walks at 8:00 am and 10:30 am. Your tour guide will point out all the different types of flowers and species like desert bluebells and owl’s clover. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and bring a bottle of water for this one mile walk. RSVP by April 1 by emailing gary.whitener@dcranchinc.com.
