If you live in Arizona, there’s a good chance you’ve come across the name Kevin Binkley. That’s probably because Chef Kevin Binkley is the owner and operator of 4 critically acclaimed restaurants in Arizona: Bink’s Midtown (24th Street & Osborn), Binkley’s Restaurant (Cave Creek), Bink’s Scottsdale (Hilton Village) and Café Bink (Carefree).
Binkley has been called many things throughout his career: according to his website, the terms “culinary magician” and “food pioneer” are not unfamiliar to him. Binkley’s success, if it can be boiled down into a few factors, can be attributed to his inspired, creative food combinations, his insistence on using only the highest quality, local produce and his eye for fine dining. Not to mention all of his awards.
Let’s talk about brunch.
While every meal at one of Chef Binkley’s restaurants is an experience in and of itself, his Sunday brunch will take your breath away – sometimes literally, because you’ve stuffed yourself so full of gourmet treats and dishes your lungs are working overtime.
First off, if you’ve decided to go out for brunch at Bink’s Scottsdale, don’t expect to get bread before your meal. Instead, prepare yourself for the “awesomeness” that is having homemade sugar doughnuts brought to your table as an appetizer. We’re not kidding. They melt in your mouth. You will be begging your waiter or waitress for more.
Our Sunday brunch recommendations include Chef Binkley’s Eggs Benedict, with house-cured ham, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce and side salad, and the Cinnamon Roll – yes, the giant cinnamon roll is considered a meal.
The cinnamon roll is brought out in its own miniature pan and is covered in butterscotch sauce and cream cheese frosting. It’s a total game changer. (Don’t order it if you’re on a diet.)
But there are a lot of healthy menu items at Bink’s as well. If you’re looking to sample some of Arizona’s seasonal fruits and vegetables, check out the Local Produce portion of the menu. Here, you can try creative dishes centered around a seasonal menu item like kale, beets, peaches or carrots.
