Sunday, October 12th marks the 11th annual Tour de Scottsdale. The proceeds of the event, which starts and finishes at Market Street in DC Ranch, go to the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy to benefit the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.
The McDowell Sonoran Preserve is important to residents of DC Ranch because the two properties are adjoining and, in some areas, even intertwined.
This race is Arizona’s premier cycling event and participants still have time to register. There is a long course (70 miles) and a short course (30 miles) that start and finish at Market Street.
The long course route is outlined in the map above.
The short course route, not outlined in the map above, goes west from DC Ranch then turns north on Scottsdale Road; east on Cave Creek; and south on Pima back to DC Ranch. For either ride the elevation increases 1400 feet.
Cyclists already entered can pick up their race packets on Saturday, October 11th at The Homestead Community Center in DC Ranch between 8:00 and 5:00 pm. Alternatively, entrants can get their race packets on the day of the race starting at 5:00 am near the starting line.
Cyclists receive:
- electronic Chip timing
- after-the-ride food and entertainment
- commemorative shirts
- a medallion for all finishers
- aid station refreshments
- medical support
- police support and traffic control on route (note: not available throughout 30 mile ride)
- bike support along the course
Spectators are welcome and encouraged to attend. Come on out and cheer on the competitors anywhere along the course.
