It’s every small child’s dream to go to the North Pole, so why not make the experience a real one complete with train, Santa and his elves? You’ll want to take the entire family and head up to Williams, Arizona where you can hop on the Polar Express and travel to Santa’s Village at the “North Pole.” The Polar Express runs now through January 3rd.
This popular train ride adventure is based on the classic story, The Polar Express® by Chris Van Allsburg.
The story is of a young boy on Christmas Eve who is hoping for belief in the true spirit of Christmas and after falling asleep, a magical train called the Polar Express train pulls up in front of his house and he is invited aboard for a journey to the North Pole. He arrives and is selected by Santa to be the first child to receive the first gift of Christmas. He picks a bright silver bell from Santa’s sleigh which makes a beautiful sound. As the years go by, most people can no longer hear the beautiful tingling of Christmas spirit, except for those who still truly believe!
On the train ride, enjoy some sweet treats when everyone is served hot chocolate and cookies as Kris Kringle comes through the cars handing out the first gifts of the season. As the train comes to a stop, its passengers step into the true magic of Christmas, complete with reindeer and one more timeless reading of this classical story.
The train leaves each night at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. with some afternoon departures on select days. Kids are encouraged to wear their pajamas but make sure you dress like you are headed to the North Pole because the temperature drops after dark and the train ride is 90 minutes. If you decide to spend the night, there are hotel accommodations at The Grand Canyon Railway Hotel which is walking distance to the train.
Bring your camera because photo-ops are plentiful as the magic unfolds with singing, dancing and some old-fashioned Holiday caroling. Back home when the fun is over why not go through your pics and submit yours to be entered to win some great gifts.
