Thanksgiving has come and gone, which means it’s time to start getting ready for the winter holiday festivities! When you live in DC Ranch, you don’t even have to leave the neighborhood to have some holiday fun throughout December. These four DC Ranch Christmas events are only a few examples of what local residents can look forward to this month.
Giving Trees
The holiday season is the perfect time to give to charity, and you can start by donating to Giving Trees. Sponsored by the Community Council and Homeward Bound, Giving Trees makes it easy for DC Ranch residents to sponsor a few families who are in need of gifts. Both DC Ranch community centers will have tags, each of which will feature a gift idea that the sponsored family would like.
Two families have been sponsored this year. One is a mother with three children-two sons and a daughter-with ages ranging from 2-9. The other family is a mother and her four daughters, who range in age from newborn-8-years-old.
If you wish to participate in Giving Trees, just go to one of the DC Ranch community centers and grab a tag. Then buy the present, wrap it, and return it to the community center with the tag by Thursday, December 17. If you have any questions about this DC Ranch Christmas event, you can call (480) 342-7178 to reach the Community Council.
Hot Cocoa Stroll
If you’re looking for a fun family event on a weekday, head to Market Street for the Hot Cocoa Stroll on Thursday, December 3. At 5:30 pm, the event will kick off with Santa’s arrival. This will be followed by performances by Blazer Band, The Orffeans, and the Copper Ridge String Orchestra at 6 pm.
At 7 pm, the tree lighting will take place on the plaza. This DC Ranch Christmas event will end at 8 pm, so make sure you enjoy some hot cocoa, caroling, treats, and more before it’s over!
PJs and Pancakes
Just two days after the Hot Cocoa Stroll, the Homestead Community Center will host PJs and Pancakes. It will take place on Saturday, December 5, from 8:30-10:30 am. Guests are encouraged to wear pajamas to this DC Ranch Christmas event, which has a Nutcracker theme.
You can register up to six people for this event. Kids ages 0 to 3 get in for free, while tickets for kids ages 4 to 12 cost $5. Tickets for guests who are 13 and older are $10 each. Once you register, get ready to enjoy a tasty breakfast and a hot cocoa bar, much like last year’s PJs and Pancakes event. There will also be fun activities for guests of all ages, plus a pajama contest, for which the grand prize is a set of four tickets to The Nutcracker. You can register for this event here.
DC Ranch Women Holiday Java Hour
Women who live in DC Ranch won’t have to go far to have some holiday fun in December, thanks to the Holiday Java Hour. It will take place on Wednesday, December 9 at 10 am in the Desert Camp Community Center.
The DC Ranch Women’s Club partnered with Foothills Animal Rescue for this event. So if you want to help a good cause, feel free to bring any clothes or housewares you would like to donate. Otherwise, this DC Ranch Christmas event is free. You can register here.
