The Best Kid-Tested Playgrounds in North Scottsdale
Playground equipment? Check. Swing sets? Check. Plenty of kid-friendly fun? Check! These are six of our favorite playgrounds in North Scottsdale, and we definitely recommend you check them out:

Here’s a closer look at each.
George ‘Doc’ Cavalliere Park
This 34-acre park features a shaded playground for safe fun on hot days, a one-mile looped hiking trail, two basketball courts, two drop-in ramadas, picnic areas and a restroom. The playground has equipment for kids of all ages.
Sonoran Hills Park
This park has something for everyone. From large and open turf areas to basketball courts, a tennis court and reservable baseball field, this park is one of the biggest in the area. You and your favorite kids can spend time on the playground, relaxing under the shade ramadas, or having a great lunch at one of the park’s picnic areas. Sonoran Hills Park also features a five-station exercise course so you can get in a quick mini-workout while the little ones play.
This park may be on the small size for North Scottsdale, checking in at 4 acres, but there’s a ton of fun packed between its borders. Ironwood Park is well-known for its super-fun and well-equipped playground, picnic area, drop-in ramada, basketball court and tennis court, and there’s still plenty of open space for the kids to burn of some extra energy by playing tag, sharks and minnows, or Red Rover.
If volleyball, basketball, baseball or tennis is your thing, Grayhawk Park is the perfect place for you. This 13-acre park has two sand volleyball courts, two basketball courts, two tennis courts, two reservable baseball fields and a playground for the kids.
Thompson Peak Park
Do you play pickleball? This park has three pickleball courts! Parks and Recreation offers beginner and intermediate classes. The 29-acre park also boasts 4 softball fields, a shaded playground and a basketball court, too.
This 19-acre park offers a playground, picnic areas, drop-in ramada, basketball court, two tennis courts and two sand volleyball courts, as well.
These parks are all open from sunrise to 10:30 p.m. The courts and baseball fields are lighted, so your fun doesn’t have to stop when the sun goes down. So pack a picnic lunch, grab the kids, and make a day of it!
