The 2019 DC Ranch Toy Drive

This holiday season, DC Ranch residents are invited to give back to the community through the DC Ranch Gives: Toy Drive. The drive begins today, November 11, and ends December 13, 2019.

Here’s what you need to know.

The DC Ranch Toy Drive

The DC Ranch Toy Drive benefits the Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children, which is helping adoptive families who otherwise could not afford holiday gifts. DC Ranch residents can purchase gifts that the foundation will deliver to the families in need on your behalf.

How to Help

You can visit the Giving Tree at either of DC Ranch’s community centers to pick up a wish tag. If you choose to purchase a gift, please return it to the community center unwrapped and with the wish tag by Friday, December 13. The staff at the community center will deliver the gifts to the Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children in time for its annual family holiday party.

You don’t have to visit a community center to help, though. You can also order items from families’ wish lists here. (There’s a $25 minimum order when you shop online, plus shipping and all applicable taxes.) When you order online, the items will send the gifts directly to the foundation for you.

Background

Each day in the U.S., an average of 43 children are diagnosed with cancer. Treatment can be tremendously expensive, leaving families to struggle through the holidays while making appointments, visiting children in hospitals and parenting other children.

The DC Ranch Gives: Toy Drive has partnered with the Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children to bring together these families and those who are able to help. You can brighten a child’s – or a family member’s – season by choosing a gift from his or her holiday wish list.

About the Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children

The Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation. Its mission is to provide social, emotional and financial support for families of children who have pediatric cancer. The foundation provides several services for kids, including economic support through help covering rent, medical bills and day-to-day expenses so parents can focus on being with their children. It also helps coordinate transportation and lodging – both in-state and out-of-state – so children can receive valuable, life-saving treatments they need so parents don’t have to worry about logistics. With Four Paws for Healing, an innovative program that connects kids and furry friends, and the “Sunshine Pack,” a fun and comforting pack that includes toys, blankets, arts and crafts and more for children, the foundation is able to give kids a little extra comfort as they undergo extensive medical treatments. Finally, the foundation provides families with end-of-life support as necessary, including emotional support and financial assistance.
