The Sonoran Arts League is celebrating their grand opening in Stage Coach Village on Saturday, September 16 and you are cordially invited. It’s an opportunity to meet some artists, experience the vision and enjoy some bites and libations alongside your fellow art enthusiasts!
Have you been thinking about picking up a paint brush or pursuing a more formal path in art education? If so, the new arts center may be what you have been waiting for! It will host education programs, a free art library, after school programs for the younger crowd, local artists, gallery space and also feature the sale of local artist’s work.
The new Center for the Arts is designed to be a destination for Arizona residents, visitors and guests and will host unique public art events throughout the year. Most notably, the league is known for their Hidden in the Hills Studio Tour that has taken place for the last 21 years Last year it hosted over 40 studios and featured 170+ artists. Many residents in the scenic Desert Foothills communities of North Scottsdale, Carefree and Cave Creek open their homes for a free, self-guided open studio tour to showcase both burgeoning and world-famed artists. Each stop on the tour has one or more guest artists displaying their work and all artists are Sonoran Arts League members. You may want to pencil in the dates on your calendar for this year’s tour which are November 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, and 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm.
The league also sponsors an artist of the month and commits to you mentoring youth through incentivized programs, scholarships, annual student field trips to area museums, and the annual Youth Art Exhibition in Studio #1 of the Hidden In The Hills Studio Tour.
Interested in joining or volunteering? They have a monthly new member coffee the first Friday of each month and the next one is this Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 at the Sonoran Arts League Center.
