Pinnacle Peak Trail is a popular destination for hikers, joggers, rock climbers and equestrian riders. It is located just 10 minutes north of DC Ranch and Silverleaf in North Scottsdale.
Pinnacle Peak is a stunning local landmark nestled among the neighborhoods of Troon, Troon North, Desert Highlands and Estancia. The Scottsdale city park that is built around it, Pinnacle Peak Park, encompasses 150 acres of gorgeous Sonoran Desert flora and stunning views of the Valley.
Pinnacle Peak Trail runs through the park and is regarded as a moderate hike with an elevation gain of approximately 1,300 feet. The highest point of elevation on the trail is 2,889 ft.
The 1.75 mile (one way) trail provides a very smooth hike with a lot of up’s and down’s that aren’t too steep for a beginning hiker. It is not a loop trail so you’ll come back over the same trail.
Pinnacle Peak is a popular trail for families due to well maintained paths, great outlook points, and relatively easy terrain for young children. It’s also great for trail runners, with safe and sturdy paths providing a low risk of injury.
Rock climbing, for experienced climbers with appropriate gear, is permitted in three areas of the park with a variety of routes and skill levels.
Horseback riding is recommended for expert riders only due to the narrow trail, sharp turns and and steep drop-offs.
No bicycles or dogs are allowed on the trail.
