It’s almost November, which means it’s the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the cooler weather. If you live in DC Ranch, this will be easy for you, thanks to some great outdoor activities coming up in November. Here are some events you can look forward to in the next few weeks.
Community Campout
Kick off the month of November with a family campout right here in DC Ranch! On Friday, November 4 at 5:00 pm, families with children 5 and older are invited to head to Desert Camp Community Center’s East Event Lawn. There, campers can put up a tent, eat dinner, and roast marshmallows by a campfire.
The next morning, campers can enjoy a continental breakfast before the event ends at 10:00 am. Tickets to this outdoor event are $10 per adult or child 13 and older, and $5 per child between 5 and 12. You can register here.
Wildflower Walk
This fall weather is perfect for walking and you’ll have a great reason to do that when you join other residents for the Wildflower Walk on Saturday, November 12. Starting at 9:00 am, Landscape Manager Tom Wright will lead everyone through the winding paths around DC Ranch for a one-mile walk that will make it easy to admire the wildflowers throughout the community.
Not only will you enjoy a nice walk in beautiful weather with a view of colorful blooms, but you’ll also learn about wildflowers when you take this walk around DC Ranch. Feel free to bring your pet and plenty of water to drink. You can RSVP here.
Sunday Shakespeare on the Lawn
On Sunday, November 6, residents are invited to watch a live performance of “Richard III” by the Grassroots Shakespeare Company. This version of the great play is a fun combination of funny and dark comedy. The audience is encouraged to respond to the performance –whether by talking back, cheering, or even booing!
The play will take place outside at the Homestead Community Center, so bring a blanket or lawn chair to get comfortable as you watch. The performance will go from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. This DC Ranch event is free, but you can get more information here.
DC Ranch Turkey Trot
The Wildflower Walk can serve as a nice way to warm up for the Turkey Trot, which takes place the following weekend on Saturday, November 19 from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. During this DC Ranch event at Desert Camp Community Center, you can complete the 5k-run or the 1-mile walk, and then enjoy breakfast with the other participants afterward.
For admission, you’re asked to either bring a frozen turkey or buy a $20 “Gobble Gram” once you arrive at the event. Each Gobble Gram will help the United Food Bank provide a turkey to a family in need of food during the holidays. You can register for the event here.
