MacDonald’s Ranch is a little piece of the Wild, Wild West in the heart of North Scottsdale, less than 10 minutes from DC Ranch. Old timers around Scottsdale know it as “Old MacDonald’s Farm,” but in 1994 the name changed to MacDonald’s Ranch to reflect the changing times happening all around them. Developers have purchased most of the land adjacent to the ranch, which is located at the southwest corner of Scottsdale Road and Jomax.

The family spread started out as a working horse and cattle ranch on a mere 36,000 acres in the late 1950’s. Today, the family still holds approximately 1,000 pristine acres of Sonoran Desert still untouched by today’s standards.
MacDonald’s Ranch has four decades of ranching under their cowboy belt and offer up some of the best grub and Wild West adventure in the state. Whether you want to take the family out for a full-moon stagecoach ride or let the little ones experience the petting zoo, it’s literally minutes away from your front doorstep, if you live in North Scottsdale.
Driving off of Scottsdale Road down their dirt drive quickly eliminates the hustle and bustle of city life. It’s a step back in time and open to the public with a great offering for children – a petting zoo, western games like the ring toss game, shooting gallery, steer head roping, horseshoe toss, duck races, panning for gold, pony rides and much more. There are “photo ops” for the entire family with a backdrop of a saloon or a general store.
Let your little ones head out to the pumpkin patch so they can pick out their soon to be jack-o-lantern. They can ride the train and return sitting on top of a bale of straw on the hay wagon complete with pumpkin in tow.
For adults, there is horseback riding, stagecoach rides, hay rides and a venue for small or large parties, complete with a cowboy cookout.
