For the amount of time many adults spend in their laundry room, the space is often pretty lackluster. If you’d like to make laundry day just a little more exciting, why not spruce up the laundry room in your Scottsdale house? Sure, it’s never going to be as exciting as the man cave or game room, but these ideas can at least improve the way it looks and feels so that getting your clothes clean is slightly more enjoyable!
Put new paint on the walls
One of the simplest, least expensive ways to get a new look in any room is to freshen the paint. This is especially true in the laundry room, where a little goes a long way! While you can play it safe and stick with a neutral color here, where’s the fun in that? If you’re open to having a little fun with your laundry room redo, add a pop of color with your favorite bright shade on at least one wall. And if you’re having trouble choosing a color, remember that lighter hues will make the room look larger, so consider a bright blue or green for your laundry room.
Add storage
The best laundry rooms have a lot of storage space. If yours doesn’t, you can easily remedy this by installing a few shelves where you can store your detergent, stain remover, dryer sheets, and other necessities. If you want to hide them all away, you can opt for cabinets instead. If you already have some cabinets that you’re not too impressed with, give them a new look with some fresh paint and hardware. Don’t forget to put a few hooks in the wall so you can hang up jackets, backpacks, and purses, keeping the laundry room in your Scottsdale house neat and orderly.
Make some minor updates
Your laundry room makeover doesn’t have to be costly. You can get a new look by simply replacing old light fixtures and switch plates, for example. Throwing down a fluffy rug in front of the washer and dryer will not only look nice, but also provide some comfort while you do laundry. The finishing touch should involve some wall décor, such as artwork that you can hang on the wall just as you would in any other room of your Scottsdale house. Wall decals would work well here, too. Artwork and decals that are relevant to doing laundry would be perfect, but in reality, any décor that you’d like to look at while washing and folding clothes is your best option.
Most laundry rooms could benefit from these tips, but if you feel that yours – and the rest of your house – is beyond some simple improvements, come to The Matheson Team for help finding a new Scottsdale house!
