As the weather warms up in Scottsdale, it’s clear that spring is right around the corner. But your house might not reflect that right now, since we’re still in the last weeks of winter.
Winter décor tends to be dramatic and cozy, which means you probably have lots of comfortable throws, wooden accent pieces, and pine cones still around the house. Here’s how to change out that winter décor with a look that’s perfect for spring:
Update the colors around your home
When preparing your Scottsdale home for winter last year, you probably put up lots of bright red, pristine white, dark green, and rich maroon décor. But as spring approaches, you can swap out those shades for the pastel colors that people associate with spring. This could be pastel blue, pink, magenta, violet, green, orange, yellow, or any other eye-catching color that would complement the rest of your home décor. Note that switching to spring colors does not mean you have to paint your walls a fresh shade this season. Instead, you can incorporate these colors through new pillows and throws for your couch, paintings on the wall, rugs in your living room, or tablecloths in the dining room.
Give old furniture a new look
Another way to incorporate spring colors into your Scottsdale house is to paint any furniture that is in need of a touchup. This might include a vintage desk, table, chairs, or cabinets. You might even consider painting your bed frame a nice spring shade to give your room a pop of color this March. If you prefer to stay neutral but still want a fresh look, go for cream or pale yellow paint.
Freshen up your bookshelves
Painting is not the only way to give your furniture a new look. You can also add wallpaper to it, with bookshelves being great candidates for this type of makeover. Choose a floral pattern or at least a pastel shade to celebrate the fact that spring is here! You can also cover tables and dressers with wallpaper in a spring style.
Create simple spring centerpieces
The arrival of spring is the perfect excuse to get fresh flowers in your home, making for some great centerpieces. Stock up on pretty vases and either pick or purchase bunches of your favorite flowers to put on your kitchen island, coffee table, dining room table, or end tables. If you prefer a centerpiece you don’t have to water, go for fake flowers and create an arrangement that works well for your Scottsdale home. If you want another way to get a fresh look for spring, stock up on fruit (fake or real!) that you can put in a bright bowl on your kitchen table or counter.
These tips can especially help you if you’re planning an open house as you try to sell your Scottsdale home this spring. If you need some inspiration for your décor, check out our featured homes for sale in DC Ranch!
