Also consider setting up furniture in a conversational group, such as around a table or portable fire pit, so prospective buyers can see themselves entertaining in the space.

Swimming Pool Staging Tip #2: Use Irresistible Storage Options

Storage is important for the pool area, so show prospective buyers there’s a place for everything. Corral all the pool toys and floats in one bin – preferably one that matches your patio furniture. You’ll also want to add storage for pool towels and make sure that it’s obvious. Invest in bins that open from the side and feature clear doors; that way, the bright colors of beach towels will pull double-duty by making the storage one of the key focal points on the patio. (Other creative options include using outdoor wine racks to store pool towels, but if you take this route, make sure it’s enclosed. Otherwise, you can place it just inside the door to the patio.)

Buyers love the idea of entertaining outdoors, even if they won’t realistically do it often. That means adding evening lighting to your pool area can be a huge selling point. Consider hiring a professional to hang string lights above the pool or placing torches in strategic locations around the patio. You may want to add uplighting on your landscape features, too.

Pro Tip: If your swimming pool has a water feature, turn it on before buyers visit for a tour.
