It might not seem like it right now in sunny Scottsdale, but the fall season is about to start. Despite the fact that temps will be warm for another month or so, most Arizonans still get excited about this time of year. You should, too, especially if you’re selling your Scottsdale home this fall. As you start staging your home, consider these tips on incorporating the beautiful fall season.
Use Fall Décor
This is the time to bring out any fall décor you have. Some of the most obvious options are decorative pumpkins, brown leaves, and scarecrows. You can also put a fall wreath on your front door to greet buyers right away.
If it happens to be close to fall holidays like Halloween or Thanksgiving, feel free to decorate as you normally would, keeping in mind what you think buyers would like to see. You can always ask your real estate agent if you’re not sure. In fact, most people need a little home staging help at some point.
Another thing to remember about fall is that many people associate it with being cozy, so make sure your home reflects this. Bring out a few comfortable blankets to drape over the couch; you get bonus points if they are fall themed or feature fall colors, like orange, brown, yellow, or red. Then, add some over-sized pillows to your couches for an extra-comfortable touch if they’re not there already.
Bring the Outside In
The cooler temperatures associated with fall make this the perfect time to throw open the windows and enjoy the crisp air. Arizonans may have to wait until we’re a little further into fall to open those windows, but it’s definitely worth the wait. Until then, you can use other methods of showing your appreciation for nature.
For instance, the fall offers a great reason to set out some pinecones in a bowl or vase on the kitchen counter or island. Potpourri is great, too, since you can get it in pretty fall colors. If you have a fireplace, start it up before your open house if it’s cool enough outside.
Make Your House Smell Like Fall
Everyone likes a house that smells great, and fall has several delicious fragrances associated with it. Instead of lighting the typical floral scented candles or wax melts, get some pumpkin spice, apple, or cinnamon scents in the air.
You can also try getting that fall scent the natural way as you stage your house by baking pumpkin bread or even a pumpkin pie right before the open house you hold for your Scottsdale home for sale. If you don’t feel like baking, you could also make some apple cider in your kitchen, since the scent should spread throughout the house and give it a crisp apple smell that buyers will notice.
If all else fails, you can simply buy some fresh fall flowers and arrange them in a vase in the kitchen or other key rooms of your Scottsdale house. Typical autumn flowers include chrysanthemums, gerberas, marigolds, roses, and daisies, since you can find these in fall colors that include red, orange, and yellow.
