Chaparral High School, the public high school that serves the residents of DC Ranch, has excellent academics, athletics and extra-curricular programs. It was recently ranked #11 on Arizona’s list of Top High Schools, according to US News.

Chaparral opened in 1972 and since its opening date has created an environment for strong academic growth. There are 118 dedicated staff members and teachers who help students excel in all subjects. In 2014, 80% of Chaparral students who took Advanced Placement tests received a 3 or higher, making them eligible for college credits.
Chaparral boasts multiple state championship titles in all of its sports. In baseball, for example, Chaparral has won 10 state championships since 1994. The football team has won 5 state championships since 2000.
The high school also offers many other extra curricular activities including theater and politically-focused programs and has over 40 clubs organized and led by students with a faculty sponsor. Some of the more unique clubs offered are: Firebird Word (student anchors give the morning announcements over the school intercoms); Mock Trial Club (students learn about the law and legal system through participation in mock trials); Quidditch Club (students learn “Muggle-Quidditch,” the sport fictionalized in the Harry Potter series.)
Chaparral High School is a well-rounded high school, and DC Ranch residents are fortunate that it serves their community.
