If you plan on listing your Scottsdale home for sale in 2016, you’ll be happy to know that the United States is expected to be a top destination for home buyers around the world. Sure, investors from overseas usually go after larger property types, such as commercial or multifamily properties, but some still invest in single-family homes along the way. Plus, the same incentives that have caught the eye of foreign buyers might also interest local buyers who may want to purchase your Scottsdale home.
Check out the foreign investment forecast for 2016, and then get your home ready to sell!
The Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate recently took a survey of its investors, and 64% of them said they expect to increase their investment in real estate in the U.S. this year, while 31% said they will likely maintain their current investments.
In 2016, the most popular types of real estate for foreign investors are expected to be multifamily properties and industrial buildings. Retail buildings, office buildings, and hotels are the next most popular.
Why are foreign investors more interested in the U.S. than usual? According to the survey, 60% of the investors who responded said the U.S. offers the most stable real estate investments right now. In addition, 46% of respondents said the U.S. offers the best capital appreciation, which is one of the most important factors for those hoping to get a return on investment in the long run.
New York is the most popular destination for real estate investors from all over the world- it even beat out London for the second year in a row. The other U.S. cities that have caught the attention of investors this year include Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington, DC. Seattle and Boston tied for fifth place in the survey.
Of course, since Scottsdale is one of the top places to retire in the U.S., it has also garnered the interest of foreign buyers over the last few years. Many global buyers who purchase in Arizona tend to come from Canada, and appreciate the fact that they can get more for their money when they purchase a home, whether they plan to use it as a vacation home, a rental, or perhaps even a primary residence.
Regardless of where investors come from, it’s clear that they’re interested in U.S. real estate, and that’s good news for sellers.
