If you’re looking for a change for your Scottsdale home, it might be time to replace the flooring. Whether you switch up the floors in all the rooms of the house or just focus on the kitchen or family room, following the latest flooring trends is a great way to get a look you’ll love.
Reclaimed hardwood
You’ve probably noticed a trend toward eco-friendly home design as of late, and this extends to this year’s most popular flooring choices. If you’ve always wanted to swap out your carpet or tile for some elegant hardwood floors, now is the time to do it- using reclaimed wood! This involves using wood from old barns, barrels, boxcars, or buildings that have been torn down or taken apart.
Reclaimed wood is known for being environmentally friendly, durable, and unique, since it usually has a distressed, vintage look that you won’t find on brand new lumber. Not only will this type of wood look amazing on the floor of your Scottsdale home, but future buyers will appreciate the fact that you used sustainable materials during the flooring upgrade.
Dark hardwood
If you like your floors to have a darker look, you’re in luck, because this year dark wood is popular. Look for walnut, mahogany, or espresso finishes on your hardwood if you want a sleek look in your Scottsdale home.
Blonde hardwood
If you don’t like darker wood, you can go to the other end of the spectrum with blonde hardwood, since it’s also popular this year. Look for maple, oak, or ash finishes on your wood if you enjoy the lighter look in your home.
Gray flooring
Gray has become a pretty popular neutral color in the last couple years, and it’s not going away any time soon. If you want to try out this trend in your Scottsdale home, you can either go for hardwood in gray tones (as in the home pictured above) or get some gray porcelain tiles, gray carpet, or even concrete floors. No matter which material you choose, you know the gray shade will match the rest of your house pretty well, whether the paint on your walls is also gray or one of 2016’s colors of the year.
Parquet
Whether you go with wood, tile, or any other hard flooring material, you can try out one trend in flooring this year: parquet. This refers to interesting geometric patterns that have become increasingly appealing to homeowners with tile, vinyl, and wood floors. Some of the most popular patterns include herringbone, chevron, and puzzle, but you can also come up with your own geometric designs for the flooring in your Scottsdale home.
Large format flooring
Go big this year as you upgrade your floors. That means if you choose to tile the floors in your Scottsdale home, you should go with tiles that are larger than the typical 12-inch by 12-inch size. If you choose hardwood floors, go for wider planks, because those have become increasingly popular lately.
