The Embellished House in Scottsdale repurposes and revitalizes vintage furniture

The Embellished House is one of the best hidden design gems in the city. It’s a small store that specializes in the “reclaiming, repurposing and revitalizing of one-of-a-kind vintage furniture”. On top of the re-purposed pieces and accessories in the store, The Embellished House also carries custom made items.

The Embellished House is located just minutes from DC Ranch, on Greenway-Hayden Loop in the Scottsdale Airpark.

As DC Ranch real estate experts, we love sharing design ideas we come across while representing sellers and buyers – sharing the names of local design firms is no exception. Check back to keep up-to-date with our latest posts on real estate and lifestyle information in Scottsdale.

The Embellished House is owned by Nancy Ruben, who said on her Facebook page that she “enjoys finding new and unintended uses for items that may have been put to the wayside”.

This creative energy keeps her clients coming back. They’re always interested in her “new”, one-of-a-kind finds that range from cast-iron architectural salvage pieces, hand-cut crystal knobs and chandeliers, repurposed furniture pieces, handmade pillows, vintage fabrics and antique brooches and pins.

Because Ruben has such a good relationship with various antique dealers throughout the Midwest, the shop has a constantly-rotating stockpile of pieces. These relationships also give Ruben an insider view of many antique collections, so when a client comes in looking for a specific kind of piece, she has the resources to find it.

There’s more: if you already have a vintage-looking piece at home, but you don’t display it because it looks tired and worn–not in a good way–you can bring it in to the store to be custom-embellished by an on-staff artist.

Give your antique the makeover it deserves so it can move out of the corner and into the spotlight. Your furniture is practically begging you to take it to the shop.
