The basketball courts at the Desert Camp Community Center in DC Ranch are closed from now until November 14th. The courts are being renovated and a Pickleball court is being added.
This is one of the things I love about DC Ranch. The community diligently maintains and updates the community’s amenities, which not only makes it a great place to live, but also helps to keep property values strong.
While the Desert Camp Community Center basketball courts are closed, residents can use the basketball courts at the Homestead Community Center, although they will also be closed for resurfacing from November 6-8th. During that period, residents can use the basketball courts at Copper Ridge Elementary School.
Let’s talk about Pickleball. It’s a sport that’s a cross between tennis, badminton and ping-pong, and was invented in 1965 by a former Washington State Senator.
The court is 20′ x 40′. The ball looks like a whiffle ball and the racket is between the size of a tennis racket and a ping-pong paddle.
The ball is volleyed between sides until a player misses a shot. Each game is played to eleven points, or until a two point lead is achieved. Tournaments are played to 15 or 21 points.
Pickleball is catching on in Arizona. The game is played in local schools.
Check out the renovated and upgraded Basketball and Pickleball courts on November 14th.
