As December marches on, you can look forward to more fun and festive activities at DC Ranch this holiday season. Whether you’re a kid or just a kid at heart, check out what’s coming up for DC Ranch residents of all ages.
Spotlight Speakers Series – December 7
Interested in learning about the latest in technology? Thanks to the Spotlight Speakers Series, you don’t even have to leave DC Ranch to hear an expert speak on the matter. On Wednesday, December 7, you can listen to Jameson Wetmore, Ph.D. discuss how nanotechnology will continue to shape our world.
The event is free, but you can RSVP here. Arrive at the Homestead Community Center at 6:00 pm to enjoy some complimentary beer, wine, and appetizers, and then the talk will go from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
Kids Corral – December 8
The youngest residents can enjoy a special event on Thursday, December 8, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the Desert Camp Community Center. During this event, children 5 and under can listen to a story, interact with the storyteller and play with other kids.
This event is $5 per child, and you can register for it here.
DC Ranch Women’s Club – December 8
Children aren’t the only DC Ranch residents who get to have fun on Thursday morning. All women in this neighborhood are invited to come have coffee at the Desert Camp Community Center from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
This year, the club is working with the Pajama Program, which collects new pajamas and books for children in need. So if you want to socialize with other DC Ranch women and also help out a child, bring a donation of pajamas and/or books to the coffee date. The event is free, but you can register here.
Food Truck Night – December 8
The fun in DC Ranch continues on Thursday afternoon and evening, since food trucks will be parked at the Desert Camp Community Center from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
You can buy dinner from Island Loco, which serves fusion tacos, burritos and plate lunches with items like teriyaki beef or chicken. Once you’re ready for dessert, check out Mamma Toledo’s Pies for some delicious sweets.
Kids Cuisine – December 9
If you’re looking for something for the kids to do after school on Friday, sign them up for Kids Cuisine! Children between ages 9 and 16 are welcome to meet at the Homestead Community Center’s kitchen to cook together and take part in cooking-related activities, such as taste tests.
This DC Ranch event costs $20 per child and will take place from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. You can register here.
Grapenuts – December 14
Do you love wine and want an excuse to celebrate the holidays on a Wednesday evening? Then this Grapenuts event may be right for you. This is the group’s holiday celebration, so bring a bottle of wine and food pairing you’ll be proud to share, and get ready to learn a few new things about wine from the wine specialist who will be speaking.
This event is free and will go from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Desert Camp Community Center. You can RSVP here.
DC Ranch Film Club – December 15
If you’re a big fan of films, you’ll want to watch “Manchester by the Sea” as soon as possible. Then head to the Desert Camp Community Center on Thursday, December 15 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm to discuss the movie with the DC Ranch Film Club.
The event is free, but you need to be 21 and up to attend, and you should RSVP here before you arrive.
