As we say good bye to “winter” in Arizona, it’s time to look forward to warm and mild spring days. Instead of snow thawing, springtime in Arizona means you can spend the day outdoors on flower-filled hiking trails and lush green lawns. That’s why you need to take advantage of the amazing weather we have right now by taking part in these fun Scottsdale outdoor activities!
Go hiking
Scottsdale has beautiful mountains with lots of hiking trails to choose from, and spring is the perfect time to check them out. The Gateway Trailhead alone has 5 hiking trails for all fitness levels and is conveniently located right next to DC Ranch. Other hiking trails in Scottsdale include Lost Dog Wash in the McDowell Mountains, near the gated Scottsdale Mountain community, Sunrise Trail, and the Scenic Trail. No matter which trail you choose, just be sure to put on sunscreen and bring enough water to get you through a few hours of hiking. For most hikes, it’s a good idea to bring two to four liters of water per person.
Take a scenic walk
If you’re not into hiking, you can still take advantage of the mild weather by taking a long, relaxing walk. DC Ranch has miles of walking paths for locals to enjoy. In fact, there are about 33 miles of walking trails that wind through the neighborhoods in this area. The paths all have landscaping throughout, and many have views of the nearby mountains so you can enjoy the scenery along the way. Grab the DC Ranch Path and Trail Guide and get ready to make the most of this beautiful weather.
Check out Spring Training
February to April in Scottsdale is exciting not just because of the great weather, but also because Spring Training happens here every year during that time. You can watch your favorite teams in the Cactus League play ball at a few locations in Arizona, with the Scottsdale Stadium and Salt River Fields at Talking Stick being the fields closest to DC Ranch. Just a few of the teams that come to Arizona for Spring Training include the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, Kansas City Royals, and of course the Arizona Diamondbacks. You can check out the Spring Training schedule here before you go.
Go golfing
You already know Scottsdale is the place to be if you love to golf, but it’s even more evident in the spring! DC Ranch residents have lots of golf courses within a short drive – or even a short walk, as is the case with The Country Club at DC Ranch and the Silverleaf Club. Other nearby golf courses include Grayhawk Golf Club, Pinnacle Peak Country Club, and TPC Scottsdale.
Have a picnic at the park
DC Ranch is home to 47 peaceful parks, and now is the time to visit all of them! If you’re in the mood for a relaxing afternoon, head over to Market Street and get some food from one of the many eateries there so you can get it to go and enjoy it at a local park. If you want to venture out of DC Ranch for the day, check out the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park for a train ride to go along with your picnic.
These are just a few of the fun Scottsdale outdoor activities to check out before the temperature starts rising in a few months. If you’re lucky enough to live here, we encourage you to get outside and enjoy this beautiful weather today!
