This year’s theme for the 44th Annual Fiesta Bowl Parade, is Spirit of the Southwest, and there’ll be plenty of that on parade day with the Arizona Wildcats playing in the bowl game this year! The parade is always the Saturday before the Annual Fiesta Bowl Game and this year it falls on December 27 with a start time of 11:00 (MST).
The parade will highlight an assortment of floats with a wide variety of colors, lights and outrageous costumes. A parade wouldn’t be complete in the Southwest without horses, and there will be equestrian presentation with quite a fanfare. Balloons, clowns, candy are an all-time winner with the kids who line both sides of Central and just may be the biggest fans there.
This year’s winner of the Fiesta Bowl Twirl-Pom-Cheer & Flag Championship will entertain us and the Fiesta Bowl Queen & Court will have their own special decorated float.
The parade is free for spectators on a first-come, first-served basis. So join in the fun, and bring the entire family as Phoenix and its surrounding communities converge on Central Avenue with blankets and chairs to share in the spirit. Bleacher seating is available for $25 and is located just north of Missouri Avenue.
There has never been designated parking for the parade and that’s part of the fun, driving around until you find a spot within walking distance. If you can’t go, you don’t need to miss out on the fun – the parade will televised on a live webcast on ABC15.
There still may be time to get in on the action as a parade volunteer (email volunteers@fiestabowl.org.) The sponsor for this year’s parade is National Bank of Arizona.
