The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s 50th Birthday at Butterfly Wonderland

Celebrate the Very Hungry Caterpillar’s 50th birthday with a one-of-a-kind exhibition that features live caterpillar exhibits, huge storybook pages and photo ops with everyone’s favorite Lepidoptera larva. The event runs through March, and kids can meet the Very Hungry Caterpillar, listen to stories and collect caterpillar trading cards.

Walk With Wildlife Tours at the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center

Walk With Wildlife Tours are happening nearly every day in March at the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center. Kids have the opportunity to see black bears, coyotes, Mexican gray wolves, mountain lions, bobcats, coati, foxes, deer and several other wild animals on these incredibly educational tours.

Baseball at Salt River Fields

Parada del Sol Rodeo at WestWorld

The 66th annual Parada del Sol Rodeo kicks off on March 7 and the fun keeps going until March 10. The rodeo itself is run by a nonprofit corporation that provides financial support to charities supporting healthcare, resources and community programs to benefit the underserved, and this year, they’re putting on a spectacular show at WestWorld.

Superheroes at OdySea

OdySea Aquarium is hosting real-life superheroes between March 9 and March 24. Kids get the chance to meet Captain Marvel, Spider-Man and Wonder Woman (and a handful of others), as well as local superheroes on the area’s law enforcement forces. Children are welcome to explore squad cars and SWAT vehicles, watch canine demonstrations and more with officers from the Salt River Pima and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Offices, as well as meet ocean heroes like sea turtles, eels and more.

Junior Citizen Science Festival at McDowell Sonoran Preserve

The McDowell Sonoran Preserve is hosting the Junior Citizen Science Festival at the Lost Dog Wash Trailhead on Saturday, March 23 this year. The family-friendly event teaches kids (and adults) how scientists study the environment and provides plenty of time for self-guided journeys through more than 15 hands-on learning stations. It’s most-suited for kids aged 6 and up, but everyone is welcome.
