The 4th of July is on a Monday this year, which means you can celebrate our country’s independence all weekend! And you won’t have to venture far from your home in Scottsdale to do so. Here are the best ways to celebrate the 4th of July in and around Scottsdale this year.
Saturday, July 2
WestWorld – Kick off the 4th of July weekend early at the Scottsdale Independence Day Celebration at WestWorld on Saturday. From 3:00 to 9:30 pm, you can celebrate the 4th with your fellow Arizonans while enjoying food and drinks and participating in numerous fun activities. They range from watching a bull riding competition and participating in an obstacle course to riding a mechanical bull and checking out several Star Wars interactive stations.
This Scottsdale event will have plenty for the kids to do, too. There will be a few inflatable slides, a pirate-themed obstacle course, a kids-only Ferris wheel, meet-and-greets with princesses, and more. Basically, you can expect fun for the whole family, topped off by fireworks at 9 pm! You can buy your tickets for a reduced price now online or wait to buy them at the event.
Sunday, July 3
Cave Creek – If your Sunday evening is free and you want to fill it with fireworks, drive a half hour north of Scottsdale for a free fireworks show at Harold’s Corral. Starting at 5 pm, you can listen to live music, enjoy the outdoor bar, and let the children participate in the kids’ activities – including face painting and games. Admission, parking, and open seating are all free, but bring cash for food, drinks, and reserved seating. Then enjoy the fireworks once it gets dark!
Monday, July 4
Butterfly Wonderland – If you don’t want to wait until the evening to celebrate the 4th of July in Scottsdale, you can go to Butterfly Wonderland any time between 9 am and 5 pm. There, you and your family can enjoy live entertainment, meet butterfly princesses, and of course hang out with butterflies all day. You get $3 off per ticket when you either show military ID or wear red, white, and blue, so this is the perfect time to show your patriotism long before you go watch fireworks shows near Scottsdale!
Tempe Town Lake – As usual, you can head to the Tempe Town Lake just south of Scottsdale to watch the fireworks put on by the Kiwanis Club of Tempe. This is the 65th year of the show, and if you’ve ever been, you know why people come from all over the Valley to watch the fireworks every 4th of July. Starting at 5 pm, you can listen to live music and watch performances by local groups. Then at 9:15 pm, the fireworks show will begin. You can buy tickets at any local Fry’s food store or on the website for the event.
Fountain Hills – If you’d prefer to go a little north of Scottsdale instead of south, head to the Fourth at the Fountain on Monday at 6 pm. That’s where you can play games, listen to a DJ spin tunes, and of course watch some fireworks at 9 pm. This event is free, so no tickets required; just bring a blanket or some chairs to sit on and enjoy the show!
No matter how you end up celebrating the 4th of July in or around Scottsdale, we hope you have a fun holiday!
