Believe it or not, fall is right around the corner. Although temperatures are soaring right now, we’re well on our way to 75-degree days and almost-chilly nights. If you’re planning to sell your home in DC Ranch this fall, you have a little bit of prep work ahead – and you can use these five tips to make your house more marketable and more appealing to prospective buyers.
5 Tips for Selling Your Home in DC Ranch This Fall
When you sell your home in DC Ranch, the same rules always apply: You have to clean your house thoroughly and make sure it’s staged properly. You’ll also have to:
- Zero in on curb appeal
- Make sure your windows are dressed appropriately
- Check your HVAC system
- Let in all the natural light you can
- Remember sugar and spice
Here’s a closer look at each (and why each is so important).

#1. Zero in on curb appeal
Curb appeal is especially important during fall. It’s not necessarily peak homebuying season, so you really want your space to stand out. Make sure you:
- Pull all the weeds
- Trim your shrubs and other greenery
- Wash dust off the rocks in your landscaping
- Trim the grass, if you have it
- Invest in new house numbers
- Power-wash the driveway and sidewalks
- Add minimal fall-themed decor, like a wreath or potted flowers (chrysanthemums and marigolds are great this time of year)
#2. Make sure your windows are dressed appropriately
Monsoon season can leave spectacular patterns in dusty splotches on your windows, so make sure they’re gleaming before you list your home for sale. And because you’re selling, your goal is to let in natural light; that means taking down heavy drapes and replacing them with more sheer curtains.
Pro Tip: Don’t forget to remove your screens and spray them clean with water.
#3. Check your HVAC system
There’s a good chance that any buyer who makes an offer on your home will have the heating and cooling system inspected – this is Arizona, after all, and we depend on HVAC. Change the filters in your air conditioner and your furnace. While you’re at it, clean out your fireplace and make sure it’s ready to go for winter – just in time for your new buyers to cozy up in front of it.
#4. Let in all the natural light you can
The days are already becoming shorter, and when you sell in the fall, one of your big challenges will be to let in natural light. If you’ve properly dressed your windows, you’re off to a good start. When prospective buyers come by to see your space, make sure all the curtains are pulled back, the blinds are pulled up, and you have mirrors strategically placed across from windows so that natural light reflects around each room.
#5. Remember sugar and spice
You should take it easy on fall decor – you don’t want to overwhelm buyers. Keep things simple by sticking to small accents, like choosing throw pillows in fall colors or picking seasonal blooms and bringing them indoors.
