Now that the Scottsdale Unified School District is about to start on August 10, you have just a few days left to squeeze in some summer fun before the family’s focus turns to homework and after-school activities. Make the most of this week by checking out the following nearby Scottsdale attractions, just minutes away from DC Ranch.
Butterfly Wonderland
If you think your children would enjoy being surrounded by thousands of beautiful butterflies as they flutter around a 10,000 square-foot atrium, check out Butterfly Wonderland. If your kids like other bugs, they’ll appreciate the honey bee and ant exhibits, too. This fun Scottsdale attraction is open 7 days a week, from 9 am to 5 pm.
AZ on the Rocks
If you want to get active without venturing outside, AZ on the Rocks is a great place to explore. This indoor rock climbing facility includes 14,000 square feet of scalable terrain and features everything from a treadwall and a zip line to a rappelling area and even a yoga studio. They are open 7 days a week, but their gym hours differ day by day, so you’ll want to check out their website for more info.
Pump It Up
If you’re looking to let your children get their energy out for the day, an hour or two at the Scottsdale location of Pump It Up ought to do it! You can take them to Open Jump on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 10 to 11:30 am. If you have a big group of kids who want to jump around, you can arrange your own private party any day, making this a great spot for play dates in the summer.
Pools and Splash Pads
Not every summer activity has to be indoors, as long as there’s plenty of refreshing water involved. Luckily, children in DC Ranch have access to sparkling community pools and wonderful water features. The pool at Desert Camp Community Center is open from 6 am to 10 pm in the summer, and the Homestead Community Center’s water feature runs from 8 am to 8 pm. Plus, the McDowell Mountain Ranch Aquatic Center has pools, a lazy river, a spray pad, and more.
Scottsdale also has several public splash pads for kids of all ages. Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarter shopping centers both feature splash pads, perfect for a break when enjoying Scottsdale’s incredible shopping on summer days.
DC Ranch Back to School Bash
This local summer sendoff is another great way for your kids to get out of the house for some fun before school starts. It will take place at the McDowell Mountain Ranch Aquatic Center this Saturday, August 8, from 6 to 9 pm. If you think your child would enjoy swimming, eating pizza, and making some new friends this weekend, register online by Thursday, August 6 or by phone on Friday, August 7.
Now that you know how many Scottsdale attractions you have to choose from in this area, it’s time to take advantage of your proximity to them and go before summer ends! If you don’t live in the area, just contact The Matheson Team for help buying a home in DC Ranch.
