Butterfly Wonderland
Perhaps one of Scottsdale’s most unique attractions for kids, Butterfly Wonderland is an indoor, interactive rainforest habitat that houses thousands of butterflies at all stages of the life cycle. It’s the largest butterfly conservatory in the United States, and after watching a captivating 3D movie, seeing live chrysalis and watching butterflies emerge, you can explore the indoor area where butterflies are eager to land on you.

McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park
McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, operated by the city of Scottsdale’s Parks & Recreation Department, is a 30-acre wonderland for kids of all ages. You can ride the Paradise & Pacific Railroad and a 1950 Allan Herschell carousel. There are shops and museums to explore, too, and plenty of playgrounds and play areas, in this tree-lined park.

McDowell Mountain Ranch Aquatic Center
The McDowell Mountain Ranch Aquatic Center is the only water-fun park in Scottsdale (but Golfland Sunsplash is in nearby Mesa and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is in Phoenix). It offers a winding waterslide, a lazy river, a splash play area, and high and low diving boards.

MacDonald’s Ranch
Scottsdale’s favorite ranch – MacDonald’s Ranch – offers beautiful horseback rides all year. They also offer stagecoach rides and have a full petting zoo so there’s something for everyone. In the fall, MacDonald’s Ranch even has a fabulous pumpkin patch geared toward family fun.

Octane Raceway
Kids and adults can compete or ride just for fun at Octane Raceway, the only full-time indoor-outdoor Go Kart track in the United States. The track is a third of a mile long, but if you’re not in the mood to drive, you can also enjoy the video game arcade, laser tag and even the facility’s miniature bowling alley.
