As you prepare for another fun summer in Scottsdale, you should look for a few ways to improve your home so you can enjoy this season more than ever. Plus, certain improvements to your Scottsdale home can increase its curb appeal and ultimately its value. Whether you complete these upgrades yourself or hire a handyman to do the job, you’ll surely appreciate being able to relax with a cold beverage and enjoy the results this summer.
Add an outdoor kitchen
If you don’t already have at least a built-in barbecue in your backyard, this summer is the time to get one. Grilling outside can help keep your house cooler since it will save you from heating up your indoor kitchen with the oven. When your barbecue is built in, you get plenty of counter space so you can prepare your food in the same place you’ll be cooking it. If you’re in your backyard a lot, consider creating the ultimate outdoor kitchen by adding a mini refrigerator, sink, cabinets, and even a beer tap to help you enjoy those warm days.
Designate some space for summer gear
Most Scottsdale residents use a lot of different gear during the summer. This includes flip flops, coolers, sunscreen, floppy hats, beach towels, flotation devices…and anything else that’s necessary for the perfect pool day. You’ll want to put this all in the same spot in your Scottsdale home so you can grab it on your way out the door any time you’re headed to the Desert Camp Community Center pool or local splash pads. Whether you decide to store this gear in your laundry room, garage, closet, or another spot in your home, hanging some of it on the wall and putting the rest in a large bin can keep the area clean.
Create some shade on your patio
If you hesitate to use your patio during the summer because the sunshine is too strong, it’s time to get some outdoor shades. You can put up an outdoor roller shade that will block the bright sun, or simply hang some curtains on the edge of your patio. You can also go the all-natural route of planting a large tree in a strategic spot so you’re shielded from most of the sun’s rays as you relax in your backyard. Or you can go big and get a gazebo built in your backyard so you have another shady spot to enjoy at your Scottsdale home!
Install solar lights outside
In some ways, the fact that Scottsdale’s extra sunny in the summer is a benefit. For example, it means it makes perfect sense to install solar lights for the outdoors. This type of lighting comes in many varieties, with the most popular being walkway lights that you can add to both sides of the walkway leading to your front door. These solar lights will charge during the day so they’re ready to guide your visitors to your porch at night. As an added benefit, these outdoor lights can increase your curb appeal.
Which of these upgrades could your Scottsdale home use? Let us know how you plan to improve your house, or if you are in the market for a new home this summer!
