You’re pretty sure you’ve found the Scottsdale home of your dreams. At this point, you’ve probably visited it a few times to check out the interior – or to take a look at the lot if you’re buying a new build. However, do you know what goes on around the home at night? Hopefully not much, but there’s only one way to find out, and that’s to visit in the evening. Here’s some information you’ll learn when you head to your new home at night.
1.Find out how long the commute is
If you work traditional hours, it’s important to know how long it will take you to get home each day. Maybe the Scottsdale home you have your eye on is a mere ten minutes away from work according to the map, but is that the case during rush hour?
Head over to the house you want in the early evening, anywhere between 5 and 6 pm; that ten minutes might turn into a half hour or more. Fortunately, some Scottsdale neighborhoods- such as DC Ranch – are close to local freeways like the 101, resulting in an easy commute for most residents.
2.Learn a little about the neighbors
Another reason to go to the neighborhood you want to live in at night is to get a chance to see the neighbors. They might be gone during the day, but by the evening, they should be home from work or school. You might see children playing in the area, people washing their cars or mowing the lawn, or at least checking their mail.
You’ll want to get an idea of how many people live in the homes around your new house, ensuring you’re not moving into a ghost town. You will also want to see how often they’re out and about so you can determine the chances of getting to know your neighbors once you move in.
3.Get a feel for the noise
Many neighborhoods are pretty quiet on weekdays, but that might change at night. For example, some people let their dogs outside in the evening and allow them to bark for the rest of the night. Others might decide to have a party on a Friday night, or maybe practice the drums once they get home from work. For these reasons, it’s helpful to check out the Scottsdale home you’re interested in to see if the neighborhood is a good fit for you even at night.
4.See how safe the neighborhood feels
If you visit your dream Scottsdale home in the evening or night and see people out walking, running, or riding their bikes, that’s a good sign. It signals that your neighbors feel safe, and so should you.
On the other hand, if no one seems to be outside as the sun goes down – and you suddenly start noticing bars on all the windows – you might want to check the crime statistics for the area. This is especially the case if you like your evening jog, or simply like to walk to the mailbox after dinner every night.
The good news is that most Scottsdale neighborhoods are safe, quiet, and family friendly. If you’re in the market for an amazing Scottsdale home that you’ll love both day and night, contact The Matheson Team today!
