If you’re looking for something for the whole family to do in DC Ranch, you’re in luck. This beautiful North Scottsdale community has some fun events planned to celebrate these gorgeous cooler months. Check out these three ways to have some fun just minutes from your home in DC Ranch.
Spooky Carnival: Mad Scientist
If you’re looking for a local way to celebrate Halloween with your children, come to the Spooky Carnival: Mad Scientist in DC Ranch! It will take place on Saturday, October 24 from 5-8 pm at the Desert Camp Community Center. Since the theme is mad scientist, you can expect to find plenty of potions, fantastical creatures, and even a hay maze at the haunted laboratory. Make sure the kids wear their Halloween costumes and bring their buckets or pillowcases to collect candy all night.
Each household in DC Ranch can buy up to six tickets to this carnival. Kids ages 0 to 3 get in free, while kids ages 4 to 12 cost $5 each and local residents ages 13 and up cost $10 each. You can register online by October 21 and pick up your tickets at the Homestead Community Center on any weekday between 8 am-5 pm, or at the event. Standard registration ends on October 23. On the day of the event, you can park at Desert Camp Community Center, or you can park at Homestead Community Center and take the free shuttle to the event.
Prickly Pumpkin Patch
The Phoenix area has plenty of pumpkin patches, but few are located in Scottsdale or geared toward children younger than six. That’s why the Prickly Pumpkin Patch is perfect! You can find it in the DC Ranch Community Garden at Copper Ridge School on Thursday, October 29 from 4:30-5:30 pm.
This event is ideal for children ages 5 and under. The price is $5 per child, with no charge for adults. The price includes apple cider and a pumpkin to take home and decorate. You can register your children through October 28, the day before the event.
Holiday Portraits
Want another way to celebrate the fall holidays? Get some professional pictures taken of your family! The best part is that you don’t even have to go far from your home in DC Ranch to do this. Gary Ward, who runs G Man Studios, has been taking holiday pictures for the residents of DC Ranch for 15 years, and he’s back this fall to capture some memorable moments for your family.
Each mini session lasts 30 minutes and costs $125. For that price, you will get pictures taken with the beautiful DC Ranch or Silverleaf Village community as your background, depending on the date you choose. If you want your pictures taken at Silverleaf Lake, schedule your photo session for November 6, 7, 13, or 14. If you want them taken on the north lawn of the Desert Camp Community Center, schedule your session for November 20, 21, 27, or 28.
You can register for your portrait session at the G Man Studios website. That’s also where you will go to view your images once they are available online, at which point you can order prints, photo greeting cards for the holidays, and other customized gifts displaying your pictures.
