Founder, The Matheson Team
Don Matheson is the founder of The Matheson Team of RE/MAX Fine Properties. Canadian by birth, Don emigrated to the US in 1995. With over 41 years of experience, both in Canada and Scottsdale, AZ Don’s top priority is to build trusting relationships with his clients.
RE/MAX ranked Don and his team as the #1 real estate team in Arizona during 2010 – 2016. Don and his team are ranked in the top 50 RE/MAX teams in all of the United States and top 100 RE/MAX team Worldwide for 2010 – 2016. In 2015, the Matheson Team handled 122 transactions and over $74 million in sales. In 2016, the Matheson team handled 118 transactions and over $76 million in sales. Don achieved the RE/MAX Circle of Legends Career Award in 2008. To date, only 121 people in RE/MAX have reached this level of excellence. Don is also the only Arizona winner of the coveted RE/MAX Luminary award.
Don attributes much of the team’s success to their pioneering efforts on the Internet and looks for it to drive future growth. A true entrepreneur, Don isn’t just in the real estate business; he is reinventing the business of real estate by maximizing the Internet’s potential through his proactive and systematic approach to listings and buyers online. Don and his team generate over 33% of their sales volume from the Internet, second only to the team’s referrals. Don earned the Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE) designation in early 2009. He and The Matheson Team agents help homeowners in financial distress sell their properties before foreclosure is necessary.
Don is a Board Member for the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of their Partners Council, and a member of the Scottsdale Healthcare Thompson Peak Hospital Community Advisory Council. He is also a member of Sentinels of Freedom. Don received the Segner Business Volunteer Award from the Scottsdale Chamber in June 2007. In 2009, he was recognized with the Circle of Legends award, a prestigious achievement in the RE/MAX system.
As a resident of DC Ranch, Don is a skilled golfer with a 6 handicap and is an avid reader. Don speaks to numerous real estate professionals about the power of the Internet to grow their businesses as well as his own personal formula for success. Don is never too busy for you or your referrals!
Jenny Matheson, MBA, MS
After assisting her husband, Don, in establishing his real estate business when they moved to Arizona in 1995, Jenny began graduate studies at Arizona State University. She graduated in 1998 with both an MBA and a Master of Science in Economics. In addition to earning a 4.0 GPA, Jenny was awarded the Barchilon Award for outstanding graduate student of the year in 1997 by the ASU Economics Faculty.
Jenny spent a year at PriceWaterhouseCoopers PLLC, where she primarily assisted with litigation support engagements involving property value diminution studies, leveraging her background in residential real estate and her academic training in economic and statistical modeling. In 1999, she rejoined her husband’s expanding real estate practice, which they have built into the #5 RE/MAX Team in the United States.
In addition to managing The Matheson Team with her husband, Jenny represents both Buyers and Sellers in the purchase and sale of homes, primarily in the Scottsdale and Paradise Valley markets. Experience, education and exceptional attention to detail are the key ingredients to serving her clients with a very high level of service, which is evident in the fact that she works entirely by referral.
Stewart Walowitz, ABR
Stewart is a sales agent with The Matheson Team. He utilizes his expertise in contract negotiation, following through with excellent customer service, in working with buyers, sellers, and investors. Stewart has been a licensed Realtor in Arizona since 2002 and joined The Matheson Team in 2004. Prior to that, he was a partner at Elite Home Builders, focusing on home remodeling and building rehabilitation. Previously, Stewart spent over 20 years at Ru-Mel Incorporated, a retail clothier. He began his tenure in 1975, designing systems for sales, marketing, and customer service. After 12 years, he was named Vice President and purchased 50% ownership of the company, which he sold in the spring of 1998. Stewart attended both Southern Illinois University and the University of Illinois where he studied business and marketing. He has volunteered his time at the Shea Health Care Center and has supported the Children’s Miracle Network. Stewart is a member of the Scottsdale Pride Committee.
Tracy Phillips, CDPE
Tracy is a sales agent with The Matheson Team. Prior to joining The Matheson Team in 2005, Tracy spent 4 years at DC Ranch Realty in Scottsdale. She is an Arizona native and earned her Arizona Real Estate License in 2002. Prior to selling real estate, Tracy was an Event Coordinator at Barrett-Jackson Auction House. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication from Arizona State University.
Asia has been a licensed Realtor since early 2008. Asia attended The University of Arizona on a full academic scholarship where she graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business and Marketing. She was president of her sorority, Pi Beta Phi, and continues to be involved in the alumnae group locally. Prior to joining The Matheson Team, Asia was a pharmaceutical sales representative for Merck where she won many awards for being a top performer. Her career experience also includes account management and sales for a global cosmeceutical manufacturer. Asia and her husband enjoy attending U of A sporting events and spoiling their two pugs.
Jen Pedersen, CDPE
Jen is a sales agent on the team who works with buyers and sellers. Jen moved to Arizona from Colorado to join The Matheson Team in 2005. During her time on the team Jen has helped The Matheson Team become the #1 RE/MAX Team in Arizona from 2010 – 2015 and one of the top 50 RE/MAX teams in the country. She has been a Funding Coordinator at Entrust Mortgage and also team manager of the Closing Department at Watermark Financial Partners. Jen earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science at the University of Northern Colorado.
Jessica oversees the Matheson Team’s transactions through the entire escrow period, from the point we negotiate a successful purchase contract to the close of escrow. She liaisons with buyers, sellers, title officers, inspectors, mortgage brokers, and appraisers to ensure a successful closing for each property. She has a wide breadth of knowledge about all phases of the real estate business. Jessica holds an Arizona Real Estate Brokers license and a Mortgage Brokers license, as well as a Real Estate Brokers license in California. She graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in Business and Marketing.
Stephany is a sales agent with The Matheson Team. Prior to joining the team, Stephany worked independently with home buyers to connect them with hard-to-find luxury “off market” properties. A graduate of the Arizona State University W.P. Carey School of Business, Stephany also served as President of the Asian Pacific Islander Association, an experience that deepened her appreciation for the state of Arizona. Her fluency in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English has helped her create a diverse client base which adds tremendous value to The Matheson Team.
Melissa joined The Matheson Team in March 2016 as Listings Coordinator. She brings 5 years commercial real estate experience to the team and earned her Master of Mass Communication degree from ASU in 2005.
New Business Development
Kristine is an Arizona native who recently joined The Matheson Team. Kristine spent 10 years in the staffing industry where she specialized in new business development. She enjoys adapting these skills to the residential real estate industry for The Matheson Team.
